Lecture: Rijksmuseum – Making a National Museum a Fun Place for Families and Children
Annemies Broekgaarden, Head of Public and Education at the Rijksmuseum, President of Hands On! International Association of Children in Museums (Netherlands)
In this session the Rijksmuseum’s programming, policy and vision with regards to children’s education will be shared. How do we enable children to see by doing? How do we create personal experiences for children aged 6 to 14, parents and teachers?
Over the past 6,5 years Annemies Broekgaarden has been responsible for developing the current educational policy, programming and products for the renewed Rijksmuseum. A common effort to make the Rijksmuseum a place where all visitors feel welcome. Specific emphasis was placed on welcoming children and families, both in the main building and the Teekenschool, the unique educational centre of the Rijksmuseum.
